This front platform rack mounts on bicycles with cantilver/v-brake studs.  The central support passes through the fork crown and is secured by a bolt at the back of the fork crown.  Threaded bosses on each support arm are perfect for clean headlight mounting.  This won’t’ fit on every bike–if the hole in the fork crown to brake boss distance is too great or small you’re out of luck (Surly Long Haul Trucker and CrossCheck are a no-go), but if this fits your bike it is a great value and looks like a rack custom made for you bike.  Not an unsightly clamp to be found.

Designed for a French style handlebar bag, I’ve also found this rack useful to support a Wald 137 basket (sans hardware).  This combination (pictured below) allows easy access to your cargo while riding or stopped. Just turn the 137 sideways and use six medium-fat zip ties to lash it to the M12.
