Schmidt has renamed the SON20R the SONdelux after the hub was approved for use in Germany with wheels up to 700C in diameter in combination with a highly efficient LED headlight. Same hub, different name.

The 20R/SONdelux is a smaller, lighter version of the SON28 designed for 16″ and 20″ wheels, but suitable for use on larger wheels when used with LED lights. If used on larger wheels,  the 20R will reach full power at a higher speed than the SON28 on the same sized wheel. This drawback is a significant with a halogen headlight, but if you plan to use LEDs exclusively this concern becomes insignificant. The advantages of the 20R when used on a 26″ or larger rim are less weight and less drag than the 28. Less weight and drag are good, but remember that the SON28 is already light, and has very little drag. Same five year warranty as on all Schmidt dynamos.

Please note: Due to an agreement with the importer Schmidt hubs are available for internet orders only as part of a built wheel. If you order a Schmidt hub online that isn’t a part of a wheelbuild then I’ll have to refund the money and cancel the order. Call or visit the shop to order Schmidt hubs a la carte.
