VO Threadless Stems +/- 17 degrees
I remember a few years ago when I started my own bicycle business being dark, dark times for threadless stems. Decent people everywhere who preferred silver components didn’t have a non garishly logo’d option anywhere in the land without spending more the $70. Giving up our quill stems was one thing, but being forced to sport black stems with ugly logos visible from low-flying aircraft was much too much.
Fortunately a few (three by my count) manufacturers have stepped up to produce inexpensive, attractive 1 1/8″ threadless stems. These from VO Imports are my favorite. The angle allows for a traditional “flat” or “7″ stem angle when turned one way, or 17 degrees (34 if measured from the horizon line) of rise when flipped over. The VO logo is understated and the four bolt open face clamp allows for easy handlebar swaps. 26.0 clamp only. I’ve never had any problem getting 25.4 bars tight enough not to move in these, or on any other 26.0 open faced stem for that matter. I’m not advocating such usage, and I wouldn’t do in on a mountain bike or any bike intended for rough use, I’m just passing along what has worked for me because I’d wouldn’t feel right saying you absolutely have to have a handlebar shim to use 25.4 bars with these.
For 1 1/8″ steerer tubes. We sell stem shims for use on 1″ threadless forks.
80mm stems presently out of stock.
