There are several reasons people choose traditional cotton cloth bar tape over the “cork” found on today’s road bikes. Many prefer the look.  I think it looks better, too, but mainly use it because I prefer the feel of cloth on my hands. It is as durable as cork without shellac and when properly shellacked will last indefinitely. I wrap mine over a thin layer of inexpensive cork for a little bit of padding, but padding is a personal preference.

Available in several colors.  You’ll probably need 3 rolls to wrap drop bars wider than 44cm.  Depending on how much you overlap the you might need three for 44cm bars, too.
