Kogswell Randonneur
SOLD: I’m keeping this page up for reference only.
I built this bicycle as a do-it-all personal road bike. My goal was to arrive at a finished bicycle with the maximum amount of integration possbile using a production frame and front rack. The Kogswell P/R is designed with fenders in mind, which made the job easier. Portals and wiring guides for the lighting system were added before refinishing the frame and fork.
I am selling it because we just had a second child and we’d like a bakfiets to comfortably carry our two children and serve as a family sedan. The virtues of this bicycle will be wasted with me as owner for the next few years. I’ll be lucky to get in any long road rides–brevets certainly aren’t on the horizon.

The through bolt on the M12 rack was cut short so that a recessed brake mounting bolt could be used.

Internal wiring portals are water bottle bosses with the threads removed. The Schmidt coaxial cable was used for the rear tailight for durability, but its thickness made using a cartridge bottom bracket impossible--not enough room between the cartridge and shell. A Phil Wood cartidge bb has a slightly smaller diameter than most and it might be possible to use it with the Schmidt coaxial.

The small white extension in between the brake bridge and the leather washer was removed to improve the fender line. The Kogswell was designed for tires slightly smaller than the Hetre, and at the brake bridge the fender was too close to the tire.
After

An Ultegra hub was used to save weight--the axle replaced with an axle to fit the 135mm spacing of the Kogswell and 5mm of spacers added to the non-drive side to reduce wheel dish.

Someone managed to knock the bike into another in the showroom of the shop, resulting in this scratch and the one on the fender below. Nothing substantial, but wanted pictures in the interest of full disclosure.
