  • Analytic Cyling–want to know exactly how much faster you’ll be with a given power output and a one pound lighter bicycle?  The calculator at Analytic Cycling will tell you.
  • Bicycle Quarterly–the best bicycle journal in the world.  I can’t recommend it highly enough.
  • Bikelist.org–a catalog of listservs filled with very smart bike people.  Home to the framebuilders list, Classic Rendezvous, 650B list, touring list, tandem list, iBOB list, and others.
  • Cape Fear Cyclists–Local cycling club.  Based in Wilmington and drawing in riders from the region.  3-4 rides each week, with rides and routes for riders of all skill levels.
  • Classic Rendezvous–Covering pre-1983 vintage road bikes.
  • Hubstripping–Covers internal gear hubs.  Reviews, comparisions, including overhaul and maintenance instructions.
  • The KOG (Kogswell Owner’s Group)–you don’t have to own a Kogswell to join, and this group is chock full more smart bike people focusing on practical road bikes, porteurs, etc.
  • Park Tools Repair Section–a fantasic resource for service instructions and technical information.
  • Sheldon Brown’s Bicycle Glossary–the late, much missed Sheldon’s glossary is the go-to destination for looking up cycling terms you’re unfamiliar with.
  • Sirbikesalot.com–Wilmington area mountain biking website that covers eastern North Carolina’s trails, as well as Wilmington cycling issues.  There’s a forum section as well.  Good local resource.
  • UBI Spoke Calculator–for the home wheelbuilder who needs to calculate spoke lengths.
