Ordering Handbuilt Wheels
Many people won’t need these instructions, and if some of the steps seem redundant I offer my apologies–I want to ensure that the directions are clear for anyone who would like to order custom wheels on the website.
Please contact me if you’re unsure what components you’d like to use on your wheels. If you place an order on the web and feel fairly certain you know what you need, but want me to check over the wheel components to ensure their suitability, please leave the following information in the message field during checkout, or in an e-mail.
- Your weight
- The intended use for the wheel(s)
- The weight of the cargo you’ll carry on a typical ride (this included pulling a child or cargo trailer).
- The maximum cargo weight you’ll carry on the bike
Ordering Through the Webstore
The following steps are numbered, but can be completed in any order. Just follow the link, which will open in a new window so you don’t have to navigate back to this page over and over. Be aware that you will have to refresh this page for items you’ve put in your cart in other windows to show up.
Step 1: Choose Hubs
Step 2: Choose Rims
Make sure that your rim hole numbers matches up to the spoke hole numbers. Also, if your front and rear rims aren’t identical, be sure to put the rim you’d like on the front wheel in the basket first, or make a note in the text when you checkout, or send a seperate e-mail–something– to let me know which rim you want on the front wheel.
Step 3: Choose Spokes
Keep in mind that only double butted spokes are covered by my lifetime guarantee.
Step 4: Put Wheelbuild Labor in Your Cart
Make sure you have a wheelbuild in the cart for each wheel you’re ordering.
Standard Wheelbuild (up to 36 spokes)
High Spoke Count Wheelbuild (40 or 48 spokes)
